It is essentially divided into different themes like African Journey, Central Zoo, Australian Adventure and Indonesian Rain Forest, each of which offers a unique experience.

Foellinger - Freimann Botanical Conservatory

Located in the heart of Downtown Fort Wayne, Foellinger - Freimann Botanical Conservatory is like an oasis in the city. It is an enclosed conservatory that features a 2300 square meter lush garden with seasonal displays, Desert Garden, Tropical Garden, a waterfall, 9300 square meter exploration garden and an outdoor terrace. All the gardens are home to more than 1200 types of plants with 72 different kinds of Cactus.

Johnny Appleseed Park

Also known as Archer Park, Johnny Appleseed Park is one of the most popular parks in the city of Fort Wayne. Spread over 31 acres, the park is named after a famous American pioneer – John Chapman, who was popularly known as Johnny Appleseed by the locals. It offers a number of recreational activities for its visitors including fishing, sailing, boating, camping, picnicking, biking, hiking and a playground for your beloved dogs.

Johnny Appleseed Park is also home to a very famous campground that also houses the grave site of its namesake, which is visible to the visitors through steel gates. The park also hosts the famous Johnny Appleseed Festival in the month of September every year.

Fort Wayne Museum of Art

Located in Downtown Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Museum of Art is an accredited American Alliance of Museums, modern art museum. It is known for its travel exhibitions and several permanent collections that date back to the 19th century.

Each exhibit in the museum is displayed for about six to twelve weeks, after which the museum closes for 10 days to install new artworks. However, cameras and photography are not allowed inside the museum in order to protect the fragile works of art.

Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

Built in 1860, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is among the chief cathedrals of Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne - South Bend. It is one of the oldest churches in the city and has been renovated several times over various decades. In the year 1980, the cathedral became a part of the National Register of Historic Places.

The building grounds, known as Cathedral Square, consists of MacDougal Chapel, Chancery of the Diocese of Fort Wayne – South Bend, Cathedral Center for Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) classes, Joseph Richardville’s grave and a rectory.

Embassy Theater

Opened in 1928, Embassy Theater (or as it was known – Emboyd Theater) was originally built as a vaudeville house and a movie palace with an 1100 page theater pipe organ. Presently, it is home to Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra.

With a seating capacity of 2471 people, the theatre is mainly used for Broadway shows, concerts, symphonies and family events. Right next to the theatre is the 250 room, seven floored Indiana Hotel, which has also been restored several times to maintain its historic integrity.

Fort Wayne Old City Hall Building & The History Center

Built in the year 1840, the Old City Hall Building is one of the most important historical landmarks of Fort Wayne. The building served as the city’s city hall till the year 1971, until it was shifted to City-Council Building. In the year 1973, the building became a part of the National Register of Historic Places.

Old City Hall also houses a very important historical museum – The History Center, which is home to more than 26,000 artifacts and exhibits, each showcasing a part of the region’s history. The collections at the museum is maintained by Allen County-Fort Wayne Historical Society, which also oversees the adjacent Barr Street Market, one of the oldest in the city.
